Well well well...

Okay, so I'm changing the name tag in my mail box at my apartment, and there were a few old tags in there. One of them has a familiar sounding name on it...

Kevin Brennhofer was a guy I graduated high school with. Always a great guy to talk to. I messaged him on Facebook, and he replied that I was standing in his old room.
WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

The next day I was speaking with my interim supervisor, and he said he did his internshio in Forest Lake with the Youth Service Bureau. He said one of the therapists there opened her own private practice and he worked there briefly. I asked who it was, and he said Nancy Hertz. I SAW HER WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER.

O.o

Here we go...

The older I get, the more I realize just how small this world really is.

Also I work in the mental health field in the Twin Cities, so there's a lot of overlap there.

Anyways, I've been meaning to document the weird ways in which my life intertwines within itself and the lives of others, so that's what this is: my way of sharing the odd, funny little small-world moments.

RECENTLY:

I met a girl named Julie at the Poppens' annual party. She works at a school in Hennepin County, weirdly not one I had heard of. We shared stories and passion about kids and mental health for like 2 hours... It was awesome. Anyway, I found her on Facebook and... She's friends with Mary, my childhood best friend. Weird.

Occasionally I Facebook creep the girls that went to the residential treatment center (RTC) that I used to work at. You know, you spend almost every waking moment building relationships with these people during their darkest times, that creates a bond that will never go away. I like to see how they're doing, what they look like as they grow up. I miss them.
Anyways, one of the kiddos posted on her Facebook about hating her case manager at school. She named the case manager. And I realized that she goes to the same school as one of my current clients, who has the aforementioned case manager. And I laughed, because I am not surprised in the slightest that she hates her.

My ex boyfriend met and briefly dated my friend's ex girlfriend, who he met on Tinder.

When I started my job as a case manager, two of the clients I got from my predecessor I already knew from my last job. One of my coworker's client's for the same reason, and another coworker's client is the younger sister of a girl I worked with at Potbelly.

Went to a psychiatrist meeting with a client. In the meeting, I mentioned how I had worked at the RTC. After the meeting, we were in the lobby scheduling the next appointment, and I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was one of the kiddos from the RTC! Aaaaand of course she was the next appointment for the psychiatrist. I know he figured that out, but it's not like we can talk about it...

Ran into another former resident when I was in the Burger King drive through one day.

Saw another one at a different psychiatrist meeting.

Saw another one while I was waiting for a client to arrive to a meeting at her day treatment. Turns out she is the other kid at day treatment with the same name as my client. We got to bullshit for 45 minutes, that was really cool.
Oh, and another Facebook creeping moment: this same girl is dating a boy. That boy has a best friend. The best friend is the younger brother of a good friend of mine who is also an ex boyfriend.

...That's all I have for now. There will be more, I promise. :)
